Nuno Espirito Santo is the latest manager to be linked with the Chelsea job.

Nuno Espirito Santo, who’s 49, is currently the Al-Ittihad boss in the Saudi Arabia league.

However, the Portuguese manager does have plenty of experience in England from his time with Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

First of all, Nuno was excellent during a four-year spell at Wolves. He achieved promotion from the Championship, which he followed with back-to-back seventh-placed finishes in the Premier League.

Unfortunately, he was sacked within six months of his most recent Premier League job. Spurs appointed Nuno at the end of June in 2021 and decided to sack him by November of the same year.

Journalists Sergio Fernandez and Alvaro de Grado have claimed that Chelsea have now made contact with Nuno this week.

They claimed in the same report that Chelsea have been on the phone to Jose Mourinho as well.

Nuno has lost just once in 26 games in charge of Al-Ittihad. Previously, he had a 53 per cent win record during his brief stint at Spurs.

Elsewhere, Nuno recorded a 48 per cent win ratio at Wolves. It was a 55 per cent win record at Porto and 52 per cent at Valencia.

In our view, Nuno is a decent manager that deserves another crack in the Premier League.

However, his football is too defensive and pragmatic, so we couldn’t see him working out in Chelsea colours.

Chelsea confirmed this afternoon on their official website that Frank Lampard has been appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see how far Chelsea’s owners cast the net in their search for the club’s next full-time manager.

We’re certainly enjoying the links towards Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann so far.
