Reports from Spain have claimed that Chelsea have met with the agents of Barcelona midfielder Gavi about potentially signing him this summer.

According to AS, the fact the teenager is set to not be recognised as a professional at the end of the season means he could be available for free.

Financial woes will mean that the Blues are likely to have to sell big before signing any huge talents this summer.

This feat does certainly look achievable in multiple ways though. The likes of Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and even Ian Maatsen hold a lot of value if it is decided their times at the club come to an end this summer.

Whatever income is generated, capturing a player with the talent and promise of Gavi for next to nothing would be an example of sensational business by the club.

The report goes on to say that the first meeting between the two parties was extremely positive, and more are expected in the future.

The Spain international has already received plenty of praise and plaudits in his young career. However, none more so perhaps than former international manager Luis Enrique.

The 52-year-old described him as ‘unique’ whilst claiming he has the ability to go on and define an era in football.

Enrique is strongly linked with the permanent manager role at Chelsea, which is likely to be filled at the end of the season after Frank Lampard’s temporary spell with the club comes to an end.

He is fighting with Julian Nagelsmann as the top candidates for the role, however signing a player the former Barcelona manager has so much experience with may hint that they would be looking towards a future with the Spaniard.
