Reports have claimed that Chelsea now don’t believe goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is worth the wages he currently earns at the club.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are now in the camp that they would let the Spaniard leave if a good offer came in for his services.

This season has certainly held a redemption arc for the formally out-of-favour Kepa. Under Graham Potter, he established himself again as the number one at Stamford Bridge.

This is despite Edouard Mendy being in the ranks, with him being recognised as the best goalkeeper in the continent less than two years ago.

The comeback has gone someway to making the £70m signing not seem like a total flop, which it was seriously heading towards as he regularly took a place on the bench.

However, this is not to say that he has been perfect since returning to the first team.

Kepa not worth his wages

Frequently, questions are asked of his part in goals, with that being no more so the case than last week against Real Madrid.

In the biggest game of the season for the Blues, fingers were pointed Kepa’s way for both goals as they left themselves a mountain to climb in the second leg of the quarter-final.

The goalkeeper position is reportedly likely to be addressed this summer, with plenty of Premier League calibre names being linked with the switch.

David Raya is reportedly not likely to be extending his contract with Brentford across West London, and he is one of the candidates for the role at Stamford Bridge.

With only a year left on his deal, he could be a solid player for the Blues to target whilst not breaking the bank.
