The season Romelu Lukaku is having at Chelsea is one of the most curious stories around.
He was expected to be the striker that elevated the Blues to new heights after joining last summer, but it’s been an individual campaign that has flattened out after an eye-catching start.
It’s obvious the 28-year-old’s fallen further out of favour since the interview saga, with manager Thomas Tuchel not using him in his best XI for the past couple of months.
The Athletic has today reported an interest piece of information about Lukaku.
Apparently, the Belgian centre-forward is now at a point where he’s often standing alone in team warm-ups and looking isolated.
For example, at last month’s FA Cup semi-final win against Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium he walked around the pitch pre-match away from teammates and staff.
However, the report does add there’s no “significant issues” between him and other players in the dressing room.
It’s perhaps no surprise due to the season he’s having to hear Lukaku’s name linked with both Bayern Munich and Barcelona very recently.

PL top scorers
Lukaku was definitely one of the favourites last summer to end up as the Premier League’s top scorer in the 2021/22 season.
With just four games left, he’s netted just five times in the league.
It’s a familiar issue that the Blues don’t have an out-an-out striker firing in big numbers each season to really push the side towards the top of the table.
In fact, Mason Mount is the only player in the Chelsea squad to hit double digits for goals this campaign in the Premier League (10).
Thomas Tuchel’s side are fighting to get over the line to finish third this season, which isn’t a bad effort when you consider they’ve not got one dominate scorer.
Liverpool and Manchester City have three different players each to hit 10+ league goals this year.
