Report: Chelsea potential buyers are about to meet with club’s supporters’ trust, they’re very confident right now

The Rickets family will reportedly meet two influential groups ahead of their potential takeover of Chelsea.

According to the Evening Standard, the Chicago Cubs owners are due to sit down with both the Chelsea Pitch Owners PLC and Chelsea Supporters’ Trust, having submitted a bid to buy the Blues.

All offers had to be sent to the Raine Group by last Friday at the latest.

An assortment of proposals came in, largely fronted by suitors from America.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and stakeholder in the Los Angeles Dodgers Todd Boehly are amongst some of the favourites

What is happening with the Ricketts family?

Alongside their American colleagues are the Ricketts family, who apparently firmly believe they are part of the leading pack.

They feel the financial backing from hedge fund connoisseur Ken Griffin should make them an ideal candidate to replace Roman Abramovich.

Not to mention their experience in redeveloping stadiums, having done so with Chicago’s infamous Wrigley Field.

However, they have been met with some opposition from Chelsea fans, directed towards past comments made by Joe Ricketts.

Hence why the family want to address these issues in person, to ease any reservations supporters might hold.

Staying on the good side of the supporters

Taking the time to speak with the Supporters’ Trust could be highly beneficial if they are to win over the fanbase.

Discussing possible plans to rebuild Stamford Bridge with the Pitch Owners PLC may also prove valuable in their pursuit of Abramovich’s kingdom.

Not many of the bidders have gone to such personal lengths yet to secure the European champions.

Nick Candy did attend the home game against Newcastle United recently, and on Monday improved his previous offers thanks to the backing of two South Korean companies.

Unfortunately, being seen as committed will only get you so far.

After the Raine Group, the bids must go through the UK government and the Premier League.

Then we’ll know if the Ricketts family, Candy or someone else has been successful or not.
