Reports have claimed that Chelsea are still interested in signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

According to the Daily Mail, the Argentine is one of the many names on the shortlist for the Blues as they look to address their woeful goalscoring form this season.

Goals have been extremely difficult to come by for Chelsea under a variety of different managers now.

The likes of Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling have all struggled to be regular contributors this season.

Even after the Englishman netted a clinical brace against Nottingham Forest, he was back to his inconsistent ways and missing a plethora of chances against Manchester City yesterday.

This has led to a striker being the number one priority this summer, and a number of names being mentioned as potential targets for the Blues.

Chelsea still want Martinez

One of those has been Martinez, who this season lifted the World Cup alongside Enzo Fernandez. The forward was mostly used off the bench for the eventual champions.

He has formed quite the partnership over the years with Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan from Stamford Bridge back in Italy.

The Belgian is currently set to return to West London at the end of the campaign, although this is seen as against his will with his desire to remain in Serie A.

This is likely to see Mauricio Pochettino need to invest in a new man up top in order for someone to be able to bang the goals in for the Blues next season.

They have also strongly been linked to the big-money signing of Victor Osimhen, after his performances helped Napoli to the Serie A title this season.

However, the Blues will be safe in the knowledge that any deal is likely to set them back a club-record fee.
