Chelsea are set to offer Andreas Christensen a new contract following impressive run of form under Thomas Tuchel, according to The Telegraph.
The 24-year-old’s recent superb performances has been key to Chelsea’s solid defence during Thiago Silva’s absence.
Chelsea have conceded once, Rudiger’s own goal (v Sheffield United), in the seven games Christensen has played in, including clean-sheets against Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool.
Jamie Carragher even said Christensen almost single-handedly stopped Liverpool from having any decent goalscoring chances at Anfield on Thursday.
Considering his form, it is not a surprise that Chelsea are reportedly ready to extend the centre-back’s stay at Stamford Bridge.
Christensen’s contract with Chelsea will expire in June 2022, and The Telegraph claims that the club is aware that rival clubs will be monitoring the defender’s contract situation.
The Blues would be happy to renew the deal to avoid any risk that the defender might potentially leave for free at the end of next season.
Another report from Goal mentioned AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain among several clubs that have shown interest in Christensen last summer.

Chronicle view
While Thiago Silva, who has a one-year extension option in his Chelsea contract, is likely to stay next season, Christensen has shown that he is a valuable asset to the squad.
Silva will soon turn 37, and his first season at Chelsea suggests that Tuchel will not be able to rely on him week in week out.
There have been reports about Tuchel’s desire to sign a new centre-back this summer.
But offering Christensen a new contract will still be a good business move from the club, regardless of Tuchel’s plans for next season.
