There is reportedly a widespread concern from within and even outside Chelsea’s walls that a trio of high-profile figures may follow Roman Abramovich if he sells the club.

According to sources at The Athletic, a sense remains that Petr Cech, Bruce Buck, Marina Granovskaia and other prominent personnel could also leave Stamford Bridge once a new buyer is in place.

Abramovich on everybody’s lips

Over a week has passed since Abramovich put the wheels in motion about possibly putting the Blues on the market.

Since he announced he wanted to hand over responsibilities to a board of trustees two Saturdays ago, the team have lost a Carabao Cup final, secured a place in the FA Cup quarter-final and beaten Burnley 4-0.

All whilst most of the attention from the watching world has been out about who will takeover Abramovich’s territory.

According to Sky Sports, at least ten parties are considering making an offer to the Russian tycoon.

This list of potential suitors includes an American-Swiss consortium of Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss.

The two billionaires are said to be combining their fortunes, yet will apparently not meet the £3b (Sky) asking price set by the current Chelsea chief.

Muhsin Bayrak, a Turkish businessman, claimed over the weekend he had already made a bid to buy the Blues.

Other names including Conor McGregor, Nick Candy and Thomas Ricketts have also seemingly sniffed around the idea of owning a Premier League side.

Very much left in the dark

Fans and the media alike still await a definitive runner to pull out in front.

Until then, speculation and suggestion, plus a smattering of information, is the only thing keeping them going through this saga.

Debating what may happen to those holding Chelsea together is another plot that’s gone in tangent with the main storyline.

For example, will Granovskaia, Cech and Bruck still be part of the process in a few months’ time?

Each have an extremely important part to play in the organisation, but a different owner might want their own people onboard instead.

Similarly, the three might show loyalty and simply walk away with Abramovich.

What’s certain in this uncertain situation is that Chelsea will feel rather peculiar this time next year.
