A current Premier League manager reportedly contacted Hansjorg Wyss shortly after he announced his interest in Chelsea.
According to the Independent, the day after Wyss declared he would consider bidding for the Blues, a top-flight coach was ‘looking to have his number passed on to the billionaire.’
Clearly, somebody wants to get in on the action happening at Stamford Bridge.
It’s all going off at Chelsea
The whole complexion of Chelsea could change if Roman Abramovich manages to find a worthy buyer, including in their dugout.
Having officially put the club up for sale on Wednesday, Abramovich is seemingly scouring the market for a suitable successor.
His search has apparently fallen at the feet of Wyss, a Swiss billionaire who declared he had been approached by the Russian a day before Chelsea went onto the market.
The 86-year-old businessman is said to be joining forces with Todd Boehly and one other party to secure the rights of the Blues.
There potential plans for the company have not yet reached the surface, although Goal claim they want to supply a more sustainable model.
This is surely in reference to Abramovich’s ability to replace a manager willingly season-upon-season, something Jamie Carragher claims will change under new ownership.
Deal or no deal?
Evidently, the person who reached out to Wyss saw an opportunity to land a position at the highest echelons of football, with possible extra job security.
But out of the present Premier League bosses, who could it be?
We can probably exclude Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
Other than that, there arguably isn’t a single coach in the division that wouldn’t want Thomas Tuchel’s throne right now.
Maybe the chasing Champions League pack feel they belong at the big boy’s table indefinitely.
Mikel Arteta, David Moyes and Antonio Conte surely all want the riches of their fellow London rival.
