Reports suggest that Graham Potter would not be prepared to leave his role as Chelsea manager if the opportunity to manage England arose next year.

According to The Telegraph, the former Brighton man is in a similar camp to Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe should Gareth Southgate stand down from the role.

The current England boss is reportedly undecided over his future, with indications before the tournament suggesting that it may be his last in charge of his country.

While a lot of the Three Lions impressed in Qatar, a quarter-final exit was certainly not on the agenda.

With a few top managers currently out of work, one or two have already reportedly starting throwing their name in the hat to take the job going forwards.

This includes Thomas Tuchel, who has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea earlier this summer.

Potter wouldn’t take England job

The German’s sensational knockout football record would certainly be a great match for where England have struggled recently, however it would require the FA to break the norm and hire a foreign manager.

However, looking to the top English managers looks pretty pointless right now, given the positions they currently hold in club football.

This is likely why as the Telegraph claim, that Potter would not consider taking the job right now.

Despite results not always going in his favour so far, the stacked schedule leading up to Christmas certainly didn’t help a new manager.

A number of first team players have already put on record their excitement for the second half of the campaign stems from the manager, with it feeling like now is the time for the squad to kick on in the three competitions they remain in.

The Blues will get their season back underway with a home game against Bournemouth.
