Reports have claimed that recent Chelsea signings are set for a hefty pay cut if the Blues don’t make the next stage of the Champions League.

According to The Telegraph, players signed in the last two windows have near enough universally agreed to deals where they will differ around 25% of their salary based on results in this competition.

The biggest game of the season for the club has finally arrived, with them knowing what they need to do to keep their campaign alive and advance to the next round of the Champions League.

Graham Potter’s side were made to pay for not taking a catalogue of good chances in the fist leg, when a breakaway goal from their own corner caught them napping.

If they are to remain in Europe they are going to need to do something they have struggled to do quite a bit in recent weeks – score.

The likes of Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling have been toothless for the majority of the season, but stepping up on the big stage tonight would surely render at least some of that trivial.

There may be an added pressure among the players signed since Todd Boehly came to the club. The Telegraph have claimed that there could be consequences to their wage if they are knocked out.

The Blues have already had 90 minutes against tonight’s opponents, who are likely to be captained again by transfer target Jude Bellingham.

Two goals in 90 minutes would be enough to turn around the deficit completely, however hitting more than one a game has been a long time coming.

A 1-0 win, which they also picked up at the weekend, would see a drama-filled night play out at Stamford Bridge.
