Potential Chelsea buyer Todd Boehly has reportedly been compared to Blues defender Thiago Silva.

Boehly, who’s widely speculated as one of the four names on the final shortlist to buy the club, is an American businessman that’s a co-owner of the LA Dodgers.

The 46-year-old is the head of a consortium that includes Jonathan Goldstein, Hansjorg Wyss, and Daniel Finkelstein.

According to The Athletic, an ally of Chelsea’s board has compared Boehly to Blues centre-back Silva.

Apparently, he is “always two or three steps ahead of the competition”, just like Silva.

Chelsea’s 37-year-old star Silva has a ridiculously high footballing IQ, which is a huge reason why he’s still playing at the very highest level at his age.

Any comparison to him can only be a good thing.

The Athletic’s report explains Boehly’s philosophy is around using data to enhance recruitment and performance.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago his consortium bidding for Chelsea was viewed as the “most viable option”.

All patient supporters are now waiting to hear an outcome of the selection process, as the club’s board discusses the final bidders. The Raine Group, who are a US merchant bank, are present overseeing the takeover as well. Finally, government and Premier League checks will be required before signing off a sale to new ownership.
