Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher is reportedly about to leave Stamford Bridge on loan for a third season running.
According to TEAMtalk, the 21-year-old Blues prospect is set to join Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on a season-long loan.
It is understood Chelsea want the midfielder to spend one more season away from the club, after previous loans at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City and West Brom over the space of the last two years.
The report says Gallagher has personally made the decision to stay in London by joining Palace.
Leeds United reportedly had agreed terms over a loan deal earlier in the window. However, the England Under-21 international will be playing his football at Selhurst Park next season, if the deal is pushed over the line.
Gallagher is an all-action central midfielder that has featured in this summer’s pre-season for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, but it looks like he’s not done enough to stick around.
He’s a big talent to come through the club’s academy, so is someone fans are still excited about.
Palace could be a great destination for him because they’ve got a new manager in Patrick Vieira who appears to be building something quite exciting.
Alan Shearer previously described Gallagher as an “exciting” player, so there may still be big things to come from him.
It remains to be seen now whether the likes of Ross Barkley or Ruben Loftus-Cheek can force their way into this upcoming season’s first-team squad.
