Roman Abramovich reportedly has reservations about the bid submitted by Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss to acquire Chelsea.
According to the Sunday World, Abramovich is not totally sold on the idea of handing over the club to the American-Swiss consortium.
Why is Abramovich having second thoughts?
Wyss and Boehly apparently placed their offer on the table yesterday, hoping to beat the other interested suitors to the punch.
The latter tried to take over the Blues in 2019, at a time where Abramovich was only toying with the idea of selling his prized possession.
Now, the Russian tycoon is actively searching for a successor, meaning he must consider this fresh proposal more seriously.
However, it appears the 55-year-old will not immediately jump at the chance of giving the rights to Boehly or Wyss.
After all, neither have experience in overseeing a football team.
Boehly is a part-owner of the Major League Baseball side, the Los Angeles Dodgers, but that is a totally different ball game to the Premier League.
Wyss meanwhile made his billions through manufacturing medical devices.
Who else is in the running?
If being inexperienced in looking after a British sports club is the issue, then Abramovich might have to knock back several CVs.
A bucket load of American investors are said to be intrigued by the prospect of owning assets across the pond.
Two possible parties that Abramovich may favour have ties closer to English soil.
Sky Sports claim US billionaire Josh Harris is considering making an approach.
Harris has a small stake in Crystal Palace, alongside the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Red Devils.
Nicky Candy, a property developer, ticks a few boxes.
The 49-year-old is seemingly in the process of readying a bid for Chelsea, including plans to renovate Stamford Bridge.
Whilst this doesn’t exactly stand out from the crowd, one specific element certainly does.
‘Mr Candy has a huge affinity with Chelsea. His father was asked to play for the club and he has been watching matches at Stamford Bridge since the age of four,” said a spokesperson for Candy.
Supporters would surely prefer a true Blue conducting proceedings from above.
