Emerson Palmieri is apparently at risk of leaving Chelsea this transfer window as his first-team opportunities consistently shrink away.
Sky Sports reported that 26-year-old could be the only significant departure from Chelsea of what’s been a generally quiet round of deals for the club.
He has been limited to just ten appearances this season due to the arrival of first-choice left-back Ben Chilwell last summer.
The departure of Frank Lampard may have offered him a glimmer of hope at more meaningful action. However, it appears Thomas Tuchel views him in a similar vein.
Chelsea’s new manager has even delivered his preference of Marcus Alonso over Emerson, a man who was frequently frozen out by Lampard and looked likely to be leaving himself.
In Tuchel’s revised system, Alonso seems to have found a new lease of life whereas Emerson has been drained of his.
Roma sold him to the Blues in 2018 for £17m (Sky Sports) whilst Antonio Conte was in charge. Emerson has since overseen three different managers but none have been able to consistently build him into their plans.
There had been rumours that the defender was being monitored by several Serie A sides that included Juventus and Napoli.
Nothing has come to fruition yet but the prospect of returning to his native home must be a promising one.
A lot of attention has been centred about Chelsea’s activities, particularly around those players who could be cut lose from the group.
Many of those who’s futures were uncertain have now been given clarification over their position.
Fabrizio Romano stated that Billy Gilmour, Tino Anjorin, Marcos Alonso and Olivier Giroud were all staying at Stamford Bridge.
It now seems that only one man will be exiting out the Cobham door with his next destination undecided.

I can’t say I’ll be heart broken if this comes to light. Emerson has been an admirable servant over the years but I’m afraid he’s mainly been excess baggage.
I wish him well if does depart and he’ll always have a place in a blue heart.
