Some members of the Chelsea squad are reportedly very surprised that the trio of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount haven’t started more games together.
According to The Telegraph, there is surprise among the Blues camp that the aforementioned trio haven’t had more time in the same XI.
The report explains they’ve started just one match together all season, a win against Leeds United in December, despite the fact they all lined up in the Champions League final success last May against Manchester City.
Thomas Tuchel’s got a variety of different attackers at his disposal, so he’s clearly just not taken a fancy to a combination of Werner, Havertz and Mount.
In fairness, the Blues manager can also call upon Callum Hudson-Odoi, Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech in the forward positions, too.

Rubik’s cube in Chelsea attack
It’s not a shocking statistic to hear when you consider the amount of changes Tuchel makes to his Chelsea XI, especially in the frontline.
It looks like Germany internationals Havertz and Werner do have a good partnership on the pitch, while Mount when he’s on form really knits his team’s attack together.
Unfortunately, the manager can’t seem to settle on what he likes due to a variety of injuries and form.
Werner’s understandably slipped down the pecking order due to his recent struggles, so it may be a while until he starts next to Mount and Havertz again.
It would be great to see the trio of Havertz, Pulisic and Ziyech get a second consecutive start together after all impressing in this week’s 2-0 Champions League victory against Lille. That would mean a controversial decision to leave Lukaku out again, though. Michael Owen is adamant Lukaku should be reinstated to the XI for this Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
