Roman Abramovich has reportedly set the price for the possible sale of Chelsea.

According to The Telegraph, potential buyers have apparently been told by Abramovich that he wants £4 billion pounds to relinquish the keys to Stamford Bridge.

Why is Abramovich wanting to sell Chelsea?

The Russian owner is currently under pressure to sell the club, due to links with his home government that have overseen the invasion of Russia.

Abramovich could be hit with sanctions by the end of the week, meaning any deals he’d like to make involving Chelsea might diminish.

This is why the 55-year-old has seemingly been reaching out to interested parties who may be willing to take the Blues off his hands.

One of the leading contenders is Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, who recently revealed he received an offer from Abramovich to buy the rights to the Champions League holders.

Wyss admitted hesitancy at taking up such responsibility but did not entirely exclude his name from the running.

“I have to wait four to five days now. Abramovich is currently asking far too much,” he said.

Will Abramovich get his wishes?

Whilst the £4 billion proposal is on the table, The Telegraph claim that Abramovich will probably only receive bids in the region of £2 billion.

In the past, he has rejected offers worth £2.2 billion at times where he had no reason to relinquish Chelsea.

However, times have seriously changed for the tycoon who took over the Blues in 2003.

Metaphorical calls for his head continue to come thick and fast, with very little room for escape.

Roman probably just wants to sail away on his expensive yacht right now.

Unfortunately, the tide will sweep him back to shore until this situation is sorted out.
