Reports from Germany have claimed that Thomas Tuchel is now keen on signing Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

According to BILD, the former Blues boss is keen on bringing in the 33-year-old in to the club if they miss out on the signing of Kyle Walker.

The German was not shy in using Azpilicueta during his time at the club, playing him either as part of a back three or in the right wing-back role.

This sometimes would see Reece James used away from his preferred role, limiting his attacking influence on the team.

The Spain international has been one of the most reliable members of the Chelsea squad for a decade now, however any appearances last season did begin to suggest that he was looking past his best.

Injuries to the England international throughout at last half of the season saw the Blues scrambling for options to replace him.

It seemed Azpilicueta was not always trusted to play that role, with Graham Potter in particular looking towards the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek to fill that role.

Now, it has been claimed that he could be on the move, with a reunion with Tuchel on the cards.

The German has been interested in forming relationships with a number of Chelsea players, however is so far yet to register his club as the favourites for a deal.

He was reportedly hoping for Mateo Kovacic to make the move over to the Bundesliga. However, it appears the Croatian is keen on a move to Manchester City.

Even reports that stated he wanted to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo were thrown in the air by Chelsea, with him reportedly only keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
