Former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique can now focus on other managerial offers, potentially including from Chelsea, after no longer being considered a top candidate to lead the Brazil national team, according to Sport.

Enrique is currently still out of work after stepping down from his position in the Spain national team following a disappointing exit in the 2022 World Cup round-of-16.

The Champions League-winning manager was linked to Brazil’s vacant managerial role, but Sport has claimed that he is no longer on the shortlist.

This, the Spanish outlet adds, means Enrique is now free to consider other potential offers, including from Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Chelsea have not been in contact with any potential new managers, despite the question mark over Graham Potter’s future at Stamford Bridge.

So, an imminent appointment of a new Chelsea manager seems unlikely at the moment.

The London club may not be the only possible destination for Enrique, however.

Sport also claims that Atletico Madrid have offered the two-time La Liga winner a three-year contract to take over in the summer.

Enrique has plenty of experience in terms of developing young talents and ticks a lot of boxes for a potential Chelsea manager, but he has yet to prove himself outside Spain.

His only spell outside his home country is his disappointing short spell at AS Roma over a decade ago.
