Reports have claimed that some of Chelsea’s players are concerned that some of the signings made in January are not up to standard.

According to The Athletic, some of those who were already at the club are fearing that their minutes are set to disappear this season in favour of giving the new additions a chance to bed in ahead of next season.

Todd Boehly oversaw a complete rebuild last month of the squad, despite the magnitude of additions they made before the season began.

They broke their transfer record on deadline day in order to bring in Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

The clubs were engaged in tough negotiations throughout January with the Portuguese side, however managed to get a deal over the line on relatively friendly payment terms.

Business did not stop there though. They signed Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and Noni Madueke for big money too.

Chelsea players unconvinced by new signings

The most impressive addition up to now has probably been Joao Felix, with the Portuguese international being the best performer in the majority of games he has played.

The feeling is perhaps not shared amongst the rest of the squad in terms of all of the signings. The Athletic have reported not everyone believes they are good enough to improve the squad.

This season’s success will completely come down to how they finish in the Champions League, a competition that can be judged very much on how the original players do.

With only three new signings allowed to be added to the squad, there will be plenty of responsibility on the shoulders of some of the more experienced players to turn things around against Borussia Dortmund.

It is unknown as of yet how much more work will be done to the squad at the end of the season.
