Reports have claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gifted his shirt to a supporter after Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford last night.

According to the Evening Standard, he was one of a number of players including Ben Chilwell and Noni Madueke that completed the gesture at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues made it five consecutive losses to start off Frank Lampard’s temporary time in charge of the club, with the majority just counting down the days until a new manager brings the campaign to an end.

Team selection again brought questions last night, as the Englishman deployed a similar side that were tasked with scoring three goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

This again saw only one attacker start the game, with it being Raheem Sterling this time.

The decision saw a number of forwards left on the bench, which included the only real outright striker, Aubameyang.

After coming on at half-time, it’s fair to say that the game completely changed, with the former Arsenal man creating a number of chances for himself to try and get the Blues back in the game.

While the team left the pitch with an apologetic round of applause to those who were at Stamford Bridge, the 33-year-old was one of those who went one step further and handed his shirt to a supporter.

It had looked as if Aubameyang’s Chelsea career was over before it had really begun, after continuing to not do enough to make the squad under Graham Potter.

He was also the player who was left out of the Champions League squad to accommodate for the new signings, a decision which left Lampard unimpressed when he arrived.

It is still unlikely that the striker remains at the club for next season, no matter who becomes the new manager.
