Chelsea have not been shy to push things to the limits when it comes to their transfer activity in the last few seasons.

Ever since Todd Boehly took over as the owner of the club, they have engaged in some unique methods to bring in and sell the players that they want to.

The likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez were handed long contracts when they joined the club, with the intention being that they can break down the transfer fees over the length of their deal.

This summer though, they have engaged in business both ways with specific teams, potentially easing both sides’ financial issues.

Aston Villa brought in Ian Maatsen for a large fee, however the Blues spent a substantial amount for youngster Omari Kellyman in exchange.

With a similar story set to take place surrounding Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and academy star Michael Golding with Leicester City, some have asked for action to stop them being able to do this.

Premier League address Chelsea’s recent signings

According to The Athletic, off the back of these deals the Premier League wrote to all 20 Premier League teams to remind them they were entitled to investigate any deals they feel fit, with the transfer fee and negotiations being asked about in the process.

It feels very difficult to judge what a player, particularly youngster, is worth in today’s market.

Chelsea have recently made a big financial commitment to bring in Estevao Willian from next summer, with him seen as one of the most promising talents to ever come out of Brazil.

There will almost certainly be no investigation into how that deal was conducted, however the Blues would do well to watch their backs from now in order to stay out of any unnecessary drama that could see them punished in one way or another.
