The fact that Chelsea are heading towards American ownership is reportedly something that insiders close to rival Premier League owners are happy about.
According to The Athletic, insiders close to current American owners in the Premier League have suggested privately a US takeover at Stamford Bridge could help vindicate the beliefs and ideas of their fellow countrymen.
There is already plenty of American roots spread across the Premier League, with some liked more by fans than others.
The report explains the four consortiums still in the race to buy Chelsea all involve some sort of US financial backing. Todd Boehly, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, the Ricketts family and Stephen Pagliuca are the remaining candidates to buy Chelsea.
The Raine Group, who are the bank overseeing the club’s sale, have gone in favour of US ownership.
Apparently, insiders feel the commercially-driven model favoured by American owners could be vindicated at Chelsea.

Chelsea to join US chain
It looks like the Blues will be going American unless a mystery bidder arrives at the 11th hour to gate-crash the final shortlist of potential buyers.
There is already a lot of US links in England’s top division.
First of all, the likes of Arsenal (Kroenke family) and Manchester United (Glazer family) have had plenty of outrage from supporters towards their US owners. In contrast, Aston Villa (Wesley Edens) and Liverpool (Fenway Sports Group) are some examples of more successful relationships.
For Chelsea fans, they’re desperate for owners that will put the club’s best interests first and show full financial support to manager Thomas Tuchel.
