Chelsea will reportedly be allowed to kick on with their plans of a takeover.
According to The Athletic, UK government have now given a thumbs up on the potential sale of the Blues.
The Raine Group, who are a bank in charge of selling Chelsea, have held discussions with the government. As a result of these talks, the London club can now continue with plans to sell the club after owner Roman Abramovich was hit by sanctions earlier this week.
Moreover, it is understood that Chelsea are confident that a takeover deal could be agreed between the next four to six weeks, with several potential buyers interested.
A deal has been agreed to allow the club to find new ownership, albeit Abramovich can’t financially benefit from any sale.
The current restrictions on the Blues threaten to make life increasingly difficult, especially because they can’t work on any kind of transfer business to keep or sign players.
The fact Abramovich can now sell the club is at least one big positive at a bleak time, though.

Light at the end of the tunnel for Chelsea
Hopefully, Blues supporters will be able to look back at the last couple of dramatic days with some relief.
Todd Boehly leads a consortium that has reportedly submitted an offer worth over £2billion to buy the club.
It’s absolutely vital a new investor takes the reigns at Stamford Bridge, something that now seems genuinely possible.
There is so much speculation regarding takeovers, though.
