Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi reportedly feels let down after the club blocked him leaving Stamford Bridge during the summer window.
According to The Athletic, there is a feeling among those close to the 20-year-old that the club have let him down.
It is understood that Chelsea made the decision to block the English youngster a loan move to Borussia Dortmund, despite the fact the German club were willing to play him in his preferred attacking wide role.
The report explains the £120,000-a-week player wanted to spend a year with Dortmund playing regularly before returning to the Bridge next summer.
Blues manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly likes Hudson-Odoi, but he’s starving him of senior minutes.
Unfortunately, the speedster has so much competition around him for a spot in the starting XI. It means a lot of his opportunities come in an unfavored right wing-back position.
He has always been an exciting wide player since coming through the academy at Cobham, but his career is still waiting to really take off to the heights many expect from him.
Hudson-Odoi needs to seize moment
Hudson-Odoi is someway off the best XI right now at Chelsea.
It feels like he’s currently cover as a wing-back, albeit he would much rather prefer to be further up the pitch with his direct style of attacking.
Chelsea play six games in the space of 19 days after the current international break, so you’d expect Tuchel to shuffle his pack at times.
Hudson-Odoi must have his eyes on the League Cup third round tie at home to Aston Villa as a chance to impress, so he’s got to be ready if that opportunity comes along.
He’s a massive fan favourite that gets supporters off their feet with his exciting directness, which is why he could really benefit from having an audience back at Stamford Bridge.
Missing out on loan is understandably a real blow to him. However, he’s got from now until January to work his socks off before his situation is reviewed again.
