Chelsea supporters were left red-faced after discovering that Billy Gilmour hadn’t been included in the latest 23-man Champions League squad.

Gilmour was omitted by from the travelling pack who are set to take on Porto in Sevilla later today.

This is not the first time Thomas Tuchel has left the young Scotsman out of his matchday group.

Blues fans did not take to this news kindly.

Opportunities have been few and far between for Gilmour this season.

Before Tuchel arrived, the 19-year-old had been recovering from a knee injury sustained last July and didn’t feature at all until for the first-team until December.

His only meaningful moments of action have arrived in the FA Cup and one start in the European competition.

Out of the 15 Chelsea games Tuchel’s taken charge of, he has excluded Gilmour eight times.

No substitute appearance, not even a place on the bench.

It’s unlikely that the mini-midfielder will get many more minutes between now and the campaign’s conclusion.

The Blues are fighting on all fronts, with domestic league and cup issues still to worry about. Not to mention tonight’s adventures against Porto.

Questions were raised whether Gilmour would benefit from a loan move in January.

No such transfer occurred. Instead, the talented teenager continues to search for openings at Chelsea.
