Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah said that Eden Hazard’s luck had run out since his mega-money move from Chelsea to Real Madrid, speaking to Marca.
Hazard left Stamford Bridge for Spain in 2019, following seven years of incredible service.
He won two Premier League titles, a pair of Europa Leagues, made 352 appearances and scored 110 goals during his Blues career.
Madrid made him their club-record signing after striking a deal worth £130m (Sky Sports).
It’s really been downhill for the brilliant Belgian ever since he stepped foot at the Bernabeu.
The 30-year-old has played just 36 times for Los Blancos and is yet to complete 90 minutes of football this season.
All manner of injuries have seriously stumped his progress with the La Liga champions.
His latest problem will rule him out of Madrid’s next Champions League tie against Liverpool and Salah.
When asked whether or not this Zinedine Zidane side was worse than the one that played the Reds in the 2018 final, Salah said: “It’s different. They’ve lost some great players, like Cristiano Ronaldo – the best in the club’s history, someone that scored so many goals.
“At the same time, they’ve signed (Eden) Hazard. Eden’s been unlucky, he’s been injured… But it’s a different team.”
Salah also added: “Hazard. I have a great relationship with him, he did very well at Chelsea, but he’s not getting any luck at the moment.”
Salah is also an ex-Chelsea man, having joined the Blues in 2014 from Basel for £11m (BBC Sport).
Unfortunately, the Egyptians move didn’t exactly work out like Hazard’s and was sold to Roma two years after his arrival in South West London.
There won’t be a reunion of the former teammates when Liverpool takes on Madrid next Tuesday, to the heartache of Chelsea fans.
