Scott Minto has just urged Chelsea to sign an English player they’ve already been linked with in this summer transfer window.
Chelsea have named a 28-man squad that’s travelled to the United States for their pre-season tour, which includes several quality English stars. That’s even without England internationals Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher, too.
Reece James and Ben Chilwell, both English, are two of the senior figures in the current Blues squad. It was claimed in a recent report by The Evening Standard that Chelsea think James and Chilwell can replace Thiago Silva, in terms of being leaders at the club.

Scott Minto would love Chelsea to sign Ivan Toney
TalkSPORT pundit Scott Minto has shared that he’d be very happy to see Brentford’s Ivan Toney join Chelsea this summer.
Minto told talkSPORT (4:14pm, 21 July): “I just think Ivan Toney has got to go. He has got a year left on his contract. They are not going down. The question is where? Now, I would love to see him in a Chelsea shirt, personally. I would love to see him in a West Ham shirt. One of those two.”
Brentford and England striker Toney, 28, is now entering the final year of his contract with his club side. As a result, it’s no surprise there’s plenty of transfer rumours flying around about his future.
Chelsea links with Ivan Toney
Toney’s name has been frequently linked with the Blues throughout the summer window so far. For example, journalist Simon Phillips claimed via Substack earlier in July that Chelsea have been discussing Toney as a target.
The Brentford centre-forward has scored goals in each of England’s top four divisions, including 36 goals in 85 Premier League appearances.
However, the latest update on the 28-year-old’s future is that a potential move to Stamford Bridge may be off the cards.
According to The Sun last week, Chelsea are no longer planning to sign Toney. Apparently, they think the £50m-rated attacker is too old for them.
