‘Sensational’… Scott Minto absolutely loves what he’s seeing from £26m Chelsea player right now

Malo Gusto has been a shining light in Chelsea’s team recently with the level of his performances.

That is according to talkSPORT pundit Scott Minto.

Malo Gusto, who’s only aged 20, is having a fantastic debut season at Stamford Bridge.

The attack-minded right-back cost £26 million (Sky Sports) to sign from French giants Lyon, which looks like a bigger bargain with every display.

He’s now up to seven assists in 27 Blues appearances across all competitions to highlight his influence going forward. Plus, we really enjoy watching him defend 1v1 against wingers.

Scott Minto has singled out Gusto as the Chelsea player that can be really proud with his own efforts.

He’s made the bold claim that he wouldn’t replace him in the starting XI right now with injured club captain Reece James.

“Can I just mention again Malo Gusto, how well he’s doing,” Minto told talkSPORT.

“In a time where it’s very difficult to be a Chelsea football player right now, I think he’s been nothing short of sensational.

“The biggest compliment I can give to him is if Reece James is fit, I wouldn’t put him back in the side.”

Impressive Malo Gusto

We agree that Chelsea’s full-back has been incredible lately.

So many of the Blues stars have been up and down with their form this season, but Gusto’s been extremely consistent all year.

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella reported via X that Chelsea’s travelling away fans were chanting Gusto’s name for the first time during the 2-2 draw against Brentford on Saturday. His performances definitely warrant him becoming a big fan favourite with the Blues fanbase.

There’s going to be a real selection problem when Gusto and James are both available at the same time. Our guess is we could see the duo start in the same XI as a right wing-back and right centre-back in a back three.
