Sheffield United's Wilder comments on 'world-class' Chelsea manager Tuchel ahead of clash
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has called new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel a word-class manager ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash.
The Blues will make the trip to Sheffield after a crucial London derby win against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.
For the visitors, this is going to be an opportunity to close the gap on fourth-placed Liverpool with only four points between the them.
Chelsea will hope to continue their revival under Tuchel who has already made several bold decisions since his appointment a couple of weeks ago.
The new manager has reintegrated several players who were out of the picture under Frank Lampard and changed the system straight away.
Sheffield Utd boss Wilder said he is aware that his team is going to face a top team under an elite manager.
“I know that they’ve replaced Frank with obviously a very experienced, world-class manager — that’s the standard of the football club,” he said in his pre-match press conference on Friday (via MrBeanyman YouTube channel).
“There have been a couple of players who have come out of the team and a couple who got into the team, but they still have world-class players regardless of formations and tactics they are going to use.
“I’m under no illusion, the players are under no illusion about who we are going up against.
“We’ve got Manchester United and Manchester City out of the way but it doesn’t come easier on Sunday evening [considering] the players in the Chelsea squad who are going to travel to the Bramall Lane.”
While on paper Chelsea should be able to secure the three points at the weekend, Sheffield Utd’s recent performances suggest it will be a tough match for both sides.
Wilder’s men bagged two wins in their last three games against Manchester United and West Brom and only lost 1-0 to the in-form Manchester City side last week.
