Having just captained Chelsea Under-21s to a dramatic league title, clinical teenage striker Shumaira Mheuka is already demanding more from himself.

Shumaira Mheuka‘s development reached new heights this year, resulting in him becoming the first Chelsea player to win the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.

The 18-year-old absolutely dominated the youth ranks, captaining the Under-21s to a dramatic league title while finishing as the competition’s top scorer with 18 goals in 19 games.

After valuable first-team minutes across the Premier League and domestic cup competitions, it’s believed that Mheuka will be sent out on loan.

Shim Mheuka is focused on his development

In a review of the current campaign at Chelsea, Shim Mheuka has set his sights on consistency and scoring more goals next season, wherever he plays his football.

Speaking to the official website, he said this.

“More of the same, hopefully!’ he said. ‘I want more goals, more assists and hopefully more moments like this.

“Most importantly, I want to keep enjoying my football, keep improving and keep being myself on and off the pitch. If I can do that, then hopefully this is just the beginning of a lot more to come.”

The Chelsea youngsters at Xabi Alonso’s disposal next season

Despite their inconsistencies, Chelsea possesses an incredibly frightening array of youth talent ahead of next season, and Alonso could be the perfect man to help them develop.

Chief among them is Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian, who set high standards in his first season with the Blues.

Domestically, Cobham products are knocking loudly on the first-team door. Jesse Derry and highly rated right-back Josh Acheampong have already tasted senior minutes and look primed for permanent positions.

Meanwhile, teenage prodigies like Dastan Satpaev are looking to stake their claim.
