Simon Jordan has just delivered a bit of a backhanded compliment to one Chelsea first-team star.
The talkSPORT pundit has come out with some memorable comments recently about Chelsea, including on where they could finish in the Premier League this season.
Simon Jordan feels Chelsea could finish in the Premier League’s top two and compete with current leaders Liverpool for the division title.

Simon Jordan impressed by recent form of Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez
Simon Jordan has now made an interesting claim about Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.
While Jordan does think that the Blues massively overspent to sign Fernandez nearly two years, he does concede that the central midfielder is in a rich vein of form.
“Even [Enzo] Fernandez, who I think was a preposterous amount of money, is beginning to look like the player that maybe they paid a lot of money for,” Jordan told talkSPORT.
Chelsea paid £107m (BBC) to sign Fernandez from Benfica in the January transfer window of 2023. So far, the Argentine World Cup winner has struggled to justify that mammoth price tag at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have no plans of selling Fernandez in the New Year, which is good news because he’s currently starring in the XI.
If he can become a genuine goalscoring midfielder moving forward, it’ll definitely help make sense of his valuation.
Enzo Fernandez in dazzling form
There’s been times when Fernandez has been out of Chelsea’s strongest line-up this season, but he’s surely undroppable at this moment in time.
Here is a look at the Argentine’s recent form for the Blues:
| Fixture | Competition | Minutes played | Goals | Assists | Match rating |
| Chelsea 3-0 Aston Villa | Premier League | 90 | 1 | 0 | 8.1 |
| Leicester City 1-2 Chelsea | Premier League | 90 | 1 | 1 | 9.0 |
| Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal | Premier League | 22 | 0 | 1 | 7.5 |
| Chelsea 8-0 Noah | Conference League | 45 | 0 | 3 | 9.4 |
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has done a good job rotating between Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the centre of the park. It’s encouraging that all three of them operated successfully in the same starting XI in the previous game, too.
