Simon Jordan believes Chelsea could offset their recent financial losses by selling three academy graduates this summer.
Chelsea reported losses of £121million in the 2021/22 financial year which ended in June 2022.
In an official statement, the club highlighted that the sanctions imposed on the previous owner, Roman Abramovich, during which the club effectively lost all their matchday incomes, was a big factor.
This did not impact Chelsea’s spending power in the last two transfer windows under the new ownership group who splashed a reported £600m in player transfers.
The club’s recent transfer policy of signing players on long-term contracts means will help the club in the short term, but even this is unlikely to be enough.
To remain compliant with the Financial Fair Play regulations, Jordan expects Chelsea to raise funds by selling three players, in particular.

“If they sell Conor Gallagher, who’s a £40m footballer… if they sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who’s a £40m footballer… and they sell Mason Mount, who’s probably a £60m footballer, they’ll make £140m profit,” Jordan told talkSPORT when speaking about Chelsea’s potential summer plans.
On how selling these academy graduates could upset the fans, he added: “Too bad, that’s now how it works in the real world.
“People don’t want young players, they want top players.
“Loftus-Cheek has had six years to lay his claim at Chelsea of being a regular first-team player, he hasn’t done it.
“Gallagher, in and out, a very good player and we’d love to have him at Crystal Palace, but is he going to be able to move out some of these top players that have been brought in [by Chelsea]? [It’s] debatable.
“Whether Boehly can achieve it [selling these plaeyrs] or not, it’s a different matter.
“But there’s no reason to suggest that he can’t achieve it.
“Are you telling me no one wants to buy Gallagher, Loftus-Cheek, or Mount?
“If you said that, it’d be ridiculous because we all know there will be a big market for those three players.”
