Kevin Campbell predicts that Kai Havertz will be back in Chelsea’s starting line-up next week against Real Madrid.

Chelsea host Madrid next Tuesday night in the second leg of a Champions League quarter-final, but they’ve got a two-goal deficit to try overturn.

The Blues suffered a 2-0 away defeat yesterday on their trip to Spain, where they endured a difficult time against the reigning European champions.

Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio both scored to put Madrid in control of the tie. Ben Chilwell, who has since apologised on social media, was shown a red card and will be missing for the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Sky Sports pundit Campbell thinks Kai Havertz will be recalled to the starting XI for the return leg in West London.

The 23-year-old forward was a surprise omission from yesterday’s team sheet, with Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix starting as a front pairing.

He did get 25 minutes off the bench under really difficult circumstances.

“I think Havertz will play at home. I think they’ll need more of that physical presence up top. When you’re away from home, you’re trying to use the speed of Sterling, etc,” Campbell told Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.

Havertz will continue to divide opinion as a player. We’ve got to agree he makes you want to pull your hair out at times because he can’t unlock his full potential.

However, the German attacker should demand to be back in team for the return leg against Madrid.

He’s Chelsea’s top scorer so far this season with nine goals across all competitions, including a couple in the Champions League earlier in the tournament.
