‘Snotty brat’: Didi Hamann now suggests 20-year-old Chelsea loanee’s teammates aren’t happy with him

Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana is not making the best impression in Germany right now.

David Datro Fofana is currently on loan at Union Berlin and has got himself into a bit of trouble after refusing to shake manager Urs Fischer’s hand after being substituted in a game earlier this week.

The striker has since apologised for his actions, but former Liverpool player Didi Hamann does not think what happened will get down well with his teammates, discussing the incident in his column for Sky Germany.

Fofana has now been disciplined for disrespecting his manager, with Union Berlin suspending him for a week.

In his column for Sky Germany, Hamann wrote: “If one of these new players doesn’t shake the coach’s hand when he’s substituted, which can happen in the heat of the moment but shouldn’t happen, that goes down badly with the long-established players.

“Those who have been at the club for years and will go through fire for Urs Fischer say to themselves: ‘We’re going to reach the Champions League, he comes here and behaves like that, what does that snotty brat think he’s doing?’ “

Union Berlin players need to forgive David Datro Fofana

If the Union Berlin squad are not happy with Fofana, then they need to forgive him. After all, the Ivorian is still just 20 years old. He made a mistake anyone can make.

It is quite clear to see that Fofana is just frustrated right now, rather than having something against his manager.

His loan spell at Union Berlin is not quite going to plan, with the Ivory Coast international yet to score a goal for the club.

It is not an excuse for acting the way that he did, but it does give a bit of perspective.

Hopefully Fofana can move on from this ordeal, kick on and start to score some goals; otherwise, this whole loan move would have been pointless.

One thing that Chelsea can take from his loan spell so far, though, is that they can see that the former Molde man is not ready for their first team and probably needs to spend more time elsewhere developing before being properly integrated into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad at Stamford Bridge.
