Some Chelsea fans react to Enzo Fernandez performance in Wolves defeat

Chelsea fans were put through yet another horrid 90 minutes of Premier League football today against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea, who had Frank Lampard in the dugout as the caretaker manager, were beaten 1-0 during their visit to Wolves.

Matheus Nunes scored a stunning half-volley in the first half to give the hosts three league points, which is massive in their fight against relegation this season.

As for Chelsea, their dire domestic form was on show again at the Molineux Stadium. If they play like that next week against Real Madrid, they will be seriously humbled on the Champions League quarter-final stage.

There certainly isn’t much to take from Chelsea’s 1-0 loss at Wolves, but some of the club’s supporters did pick out Enzo Fernandez as a rare positive.

Enzo Fernandez, who started at the base of a midfield three, tried his best to get on the ball and dictate play like he usually does. His presence allowed Mateo Kovacic and Conor Gallagher to roam forward, albeit we saw very little as an attacking threat from either.

Fernandez, 22, has been one of the shining lights for the Blues since his mid-season arrival from Benfica.

The Argentine midfielder is clearly technically gifted and is outperforming most of his teammates, but we’d like to see him get more licence on the pitch.

There is an offensive side to his game that hasn’t been fully tapped into at this stage.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on Twitter shared their sympathy for Fernandez after his individual efforts.

Most of the Blues fanbase really like what they’re seeing from the South American star, suggesting that others around him aren’t up to scatch.
