Chelsea will have at least one representative in the final of Euro 2024 after Spain’s win over France on Tuesday night.

Blues defender Marc Cucurella, 25, was part of the Spain team that beat the French 2-1 in Munich.

But will Chelsea pair Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher line up against him in Sunday’s final.

England take on the Netherlands this evening in the second semi-final.

For Cucurella, he played 90 minutes as Spain came from behind to eliminate France and maintain a 100 per cent win record en route to the final.

The Chelsea defender is having a superb Euros tournament as Spain’s first-choice left-back.

Spanish media reacts to Marc Cucurella performance

Cucurella received glowing reviews in the Spanish press after his latest display for his country.

In particular, there was huge praise for the way he managed to block out the noise from supporters that booed him every time he touched the ball for 90 minutes.

The Chelsea man received loud jeers from the German fans inside the ground who believe he should have given away a penalty when the ball struck his hand in Spain’s quarter-final win over Germany.

Sport wrote: “Cucurella. 8/10. The German fans did not forgive him for the handball that was not a penalty and whistled him in every play.

“That did not matter to the ex-Blaugrana as he cancelled out Dembele and was very safe at the back.”

Elsewhere, Mundo Deportivo said in their player ratings: “Cucurella. He had to experience the game that nobody likes, with the crowd booing him constantly.

“That made him nervous and made some mistakes, but in the most important thing, which was defending Dembele, he left no doubt that he is an elite full-back.”

He deserves a future at Chelsea

It’s been a rocky time for Cucurella during two seasons as a Chelsea player so far, but there’s been signs in the last few months that he’s now a lot more settled.

On top of that, he’s surely going to take so much confidence from how he’s playing on the international stage.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via Playback earlier this month that Cucurella could yet leave Chelsea this summer if they receive a good proposal. However, it is understood that the Blues are happy with their 25-year-old left-back.

The Chelsea Chronicle hopes that Cucurella stays and kicks on at Stamford Bridge.
