Jason Cundy has explained he’s a big admirer of Leeds United attacker Raphinha, who he thinks would be an upgrade on Hakim Ziyech at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are strongly linked during this summer transfer window with a move for 25-year-old Leeds star Raphinha.
It’s been claimed the Blues are prepared for more talks today with the Brazilian winger’s agent to try arrange a transfer. They’ve offered a package of around £118,000-a-week to tempt him away from Elland Road.
His impressive return of 11 Premier League goals last season helped keep Leeds in the top division, so he’s now being tipped for a big transfer this summer.
Raphinha upgrade on Ziyech
TalkSPORT pundit and Chelsea fan Cundy approves of transfer rumours to Raphinha. He believes that the Leeds trickster can be an upgrade on Ziyech, too.
The 29-year-old Blues winger has been very inconsistent during a couple of years in West London since joining from Ajax.
Ziyech is a player with only six goals in 46 career appearances in the Premier League. In contrast, Raphinha’s returned 17 goals in 64 Premier League appearances for a much worse Leeds team.
“Who’s better Raphinha or Ziyech? For me, it’s not even an argument,” Cundy told talkSPORT (11:08pm, 29 June).
“The impact Raphinha had on the Premier League with Leeds compared to Ziyech, you can’t compare the two. He’s got a bit of star quality as well.”
Offensive responsibility
It’s absolutely vital that Chelsea’s attack contributes with more goals and assists next season.
The squad deserves credit for the way people from all over chipped in, but there must be a responsibility on the big-name forwards to burden the load.
For certain, Raphinha’s a player with the individual quality to shine in Thomas Tuchel’s side.
