Chelsea confirmed today that Mykhailo Mudryk has recently picked up an injury in training.

The Blues announced on their official website this afternoon that Mykhailo Mudryk, 22, has sustained an injury problem this week during training.

Now, the Ukrainian winger is “starting rehabilitation” after assessments on the issue.

There’s no official timeframe on Mudryk’s injury and the severity of it is unknown, but it’s certainly a blow to Chelsea at a time when their injury list continues to grow larger and large.

The £98,0000-a-week (Salary Sport) attacker has been used an impact substitute in the opening two games of the Premier League season. He looked extremely sharp during this summer’s pre-season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, too.

Our hope is the injury isn’t a serious one and he’s available as soon as possible.

We’ll wait for official confirmation in Pochettino’s press conference on Thursday, but we’re not holding out hope of seeing him in action tomorrow at home to Luton Town in the Premier League.

Mudryk hasn’t quite had the fast start to the 2023/24 season he must have hoped for after a difficult time last season.

It certainly means the Blues do look a tad short in the attacking areas.

For now, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke could be the frontrunners to start against Luton.
