Super agent Kia Joorabchian said Chelsea have benefitted from the current transfer climate and paid substantially less than they would have for their summer signings.

The Blues have reportedly spent over £200million for six summer signings including the latest £72million (up to £90m with add-ons) they spent on German football sensation Kai Havertz (Goal).

Having had the transfer ban last summer and spent nothing in January certainly helped Chelsea become arguably the most active club in this transfer window.

However, football agent Joorabchian whose client list includes former Chelsea player Willian said the west London outfit have saved quite a bit from their spending due to the pandemic transfer climate.

He told talkSPORT’s White and Jordan Show: “The market will still continue.

“Having said that I think Chelsea have bought what they’ve bought, but they’ve probably paid 20 or 30 percent less than they would have done in a buoyant market.

Joorabchian who is also the agent of Philippe Coutinho and Sergio Reguillon praised how the club have shown their support to manager Frank Lampard, but also pointed out the extra pressure that comes with it.

“Chelsea have spent very well,” he added.

“They’ve backed Frank to the full – that’s been the key.

“I know a lot of managers who wish they had been backed in that way. I think the pressure is on Chelsea to perform.”
