It has been clear ever since the change of owners at Stamford Bridge that there has been a desire to sign some of the world’s best young players ahead of their rivals.
This summer has seen the Blues sign Estevao Willian, who is already pushing for a Brazil call-up at the age of just 17.
Kendry Paez has already made his mark at international level, recently scoring at the Copa America with Ecuador.

Despite these elite talents looking to join up with the club, there has been doubt cast over the prospects of the players who are coming through as part of the academy.

TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has claimed that Morris actually privately told him that the instructions sent his way when he was at the club were not exactly to develop players for a future at Stamford Bridge.
He said (6:48am 28/7/24): “To be fair, Jody Morris said this to me off-air once. He said my job at Chelsea when he is all working in the academy is to produce the best player I can, not necessarily to play for Chelsea but the best player I can. That’s my job.”
It seems as if that message is slowly beginning to filter through to some of the youngsters at the club who now see their future elsewhere.
Rio Ngumoha leaves Chelsea
One of those is Rio Ngumoha, who has now made the move to Liverpool after not seeing first-team prospects in West London.
However, it does seem as if Tyrique George is taking his chance to impress as part of the pre-season tour of the United States.
He started the first friendly of the summer and played a big part in Christopher Nkunku’s opening goal. Minutes will certainly be on offer for the teenager to prove that he can certainly feature sporadically at the club next season.
