AC Milan confirmed the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek yesterday, as another first-team player left Chelsea.
Chelsea supporters will be getting used to goodbyes this summer due to the sheer amount of player sales, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s departure on Friday may sting more than most.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been a major fan favourite at Stamford Bridge after his journey from the Blues academy to senior squad.
He leaves his boyhood club after 155 first-team appearances for them.
Next, he’s taking the brave step of a move to Italy to try be a success with AC Milan during his prime years.

Loftus-Cheek uploaded an emotional statement on Instagram following the confirmation of his transfer to Milan.
He’s received plenty of positive responses in the comment section, including from former teammates Kai Havertz and Tammy Abraham.
Arsenal attacker Havertz, who was also sold by Chelsea last month, replied to Loftus-Cheek. He said: “Take care my brother.”
Elsewhere, Roma striker Abraham posted a heartfelt response: He said: “So many great memories. Good luck brother.”

It certainly sounds like Loftus-Cheek was as popular in the dressing room as he was in the stands.
We will certainly be willing him to do well in the famous red and black in Milan.

It feels very much like Chelsea are beginning a new chapter with so many of the squad leaving.
Hopefully, our new head coach Mauricio Pochettino is the perfect man to steer the ship and get us back competing on the highest level again.
