AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham has commented on Chelsea fans’ new banners for former Blues teammate Reece James.

James, who was out for over a month due to a knee injury set-back, made his long-awaited return on Friday as Chelsea hosted Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

The game ended in a goalless draw and James was far from being at his best, but it was still a special night for the 23-year-old.

The Chelsea fans revealed not just one, but two banners for arguably their best academy product in the last decade.

James spotted them, of course, and he expressed his gratitude to the fans on social media.

“It’s good to be back, but it’s time to work,” the England international wrote on Instagram.

“Appreciate the love.”

There were several familiar names in the comment section of the post, including fellow Chelsea academy graduate Abraham.

“It’s only right,” the striker wrote.

Some Blues teammates, including new signing Enzo Fernandez, have had their say too.

“That’s it, big bro,” said Carney Chukwuemeka.

Fernandez and Omari Hutchinson, on the other hand, showed their support with emojis.

James’ injury absences have had a big impact on Chelsea’s performance in the past two seasons, so Graham Potter will have to put more attention into managing the defender’s workload, especially this season.

Cesar Azpilicueta, while still a viable backup option, is no longer the energetic, young defender he used to be, while January signing Malo Gusto stays at Lyon on loan until the summer.
