Wayne Rooney has shared that he actually spoke to Liam Rosenior while he was still Chelsea manager, and offered him advice regarding his troubles in front of a camera.
Rosenior, of course, was sacked by Chelsea on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after a 3-0 loss to Brighton in which it looked as if Chelsea’s players downed tools after the Seagulls scored their second goal.
Sunday afternoon saw Chelsea end their run of consecutive losses, and Rosenior must have been watching on and questioning the fight and grit that Chelsea showed with Calum McFarlane in charge.

One of the main criticisms of Rosenior’s 23-game stint as Chelsea manager was what he said in front of the camera. The media jumped on Rosenior after things like “respecting the ball” and other phrases.
What Wayne Rooney said to Liam Rosenior while at Chelsea
Rosenior’s perception in his press conferences did not help his tenure at Chelsea. Micah Richards says his comments in the media forced Chelsea to sack him, including the “nonsense” regarding the huddle.
Now, Rosenior has been sacked. The stint lasted just three months, losing 12 of his 23 games. Rosenior worked under Rooney at Derby County and clearly, Rosenior turned to Rooney for advice while manager.

Rooney was asked on his BBC podcast today if Rosenior will regret taking the Chelsea job: “I don’t know. Liam is a confident person. I’ve worked closely with Liam and I’ve said many times: he’s a fantastic coach.
“He’s never been at a club with the pressure of Chelsea and what that would be. He got put under a huge amount of pressure immediately, from the media,” Rooney continued, showing sympathy for Rosenior.
“I actually spoke to Liam, I’m sure he won’t mind me saying, less is more sometimes. The players and the media quite quickly judged him. Then when you don’t get results, we all know what was coming.”
Who replaces Liam Rosenior and could it be Calum McFarlane?
McFarlane has reassumed interim charge, having done so following the sacking of Enzo Maresca in January. On Sunday, McFarlane tactically masterminded a 1-0 win over Leeds in the FA Cup semi-final.

Calum McFarlane is a big fan.
McFarlane was picked ahead of three other interim options and will now lead Chelsea in their final five games. Four left to play in the Premier League, and then the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Whether he has a chance of the job permanently remains to be seen. But it feels unlikely, with Chelsea fans hoping for a big name to come in. Cesc Fabregas, Eddie Howe, Andoni Iraola and more are linked.
