Chelsea players are struggling to set the World Cup alight with their performances this summer, although one of them has created more chances so far than Jude Bellingham.

As we approach the Round of 16 stage, no Chelsea player has scored a goal for their country so far this summer, a low they have not hit since the 2002 campaign.

A number of their top players, such as Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and Reece James have a serious chance of winning the competition, even if the latter may not feature again in this tournament due to injury.

Who will be a bigger success – Enzo Maresca or Xabi Alonso? 🤔

City have confirmed Maresca will replace Guardiola.

Moises Caicedo has created more chances at the World Cup than Jude Bellingham

Moises Caicedo is one of those who has already been eliminated, with Ecuador falling at the hands of host nation Mexico in the Round of 32.

Their underwhelming performances did not come as a result of the Chelsea man not hitting his levels. In fact, Caicedo created nine chances in four World Cup games.

This is one more than Jude Bellingham has managed so far for England in the 2026 tournament, with the Real Madrid midfielder enjoying a strong campaign.

Eden Hazard had tipped Ecuador as his dark horses of the World Cup due to the presence of Caicedo, but ultimately they were let down by the lack of a genuine goalscorer in their side.

Their lack of technical quality was exposed by the fact that the Blues man was taking set-pieces for them, despite the fact that he has never been tasked with this responsibility at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo was praised by Ecuadorian media for his part in the tournament, but now he will be beginning a much-needed period of rest before returning to Chelsea duties.

Xabi Alonso will be getting a refreshed midfielder when he flies out for the pre-season tour, which gets underway at the end of July.
