Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side this season.

Whether goals have been flowing or not, it has been clear to see that the manager believes his best attack is built around the 22-year-old right now.

He came out in defence of the striker after the victory over Crystal Palace, where it was clear the Stamford Bridge faithful were beginning to get on top of him for any error he made.

With the African Cup of Nations coming up in the new year, Chelsea will again have to say goodbye to any of their players that are going to represent their country in the continental tournament.

This will see Jackson head off to represent Senegal, with them being the favourites for the competition.

They will also have former Blues Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy available as they look to win the big one in Ivory Coast.

What games will Nicolas Jackson miss for Chelsea?

With the fixtures back in England continuing to stack up in the new year, it now looks as if he could miss up to eight games if his nation do well.

Half of those will be in cup competitions, including the two-legged League Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough, with there being a real opportunity to add some silverware to what has been a rough last 18 months or so.

He will also not be present for the FA Cup Third Round tie against Preston North End, as well as the potential next game there if they do get through.

As for Premier League games, he will not be available for the West London derby against Fulham, as well as the visit to Anfield that ends January.

If Senegal continue to prosper, he may also miss the games against Wolves and Crystal Palace the are scheduled to get February underway.
