Chelsea spent a lot of money in the 2023 January transfer window, but several of their signings have failed to make a real impact.
Mykhailo Mudryk, for example, did not score a single goal for Chelsea last season and has been heavily criticised by pundits since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Ally McCoist, however, appears to be a fan of at least one of those January signings, Malo Gusto. The Rangers legend has been speaking about the right-back on talkSPORT.
Chelsea signed Gusto from Lyon in a £30.7m deal (BBC Sport) in the last winter window, though the French youngster only linked up with the Blues in the summer.
With Reece James out injured, he has come into the team.
Ally McCoist rates Malo Gusto
Gusto gave away a penalty in Chelsea’s 4-2 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, but McCoist still appears to be a fan of the player and was impressed with his performance against Liverpool the game before that.
Discussing Chelsea on talkSPORT, the former striker said: “I mean, they’ve got good players. Gusto gave away the penalty at the weekend. I thought he was the only one that looked anything like bright against Liverpool.”

Malo Gusto one of Chelsea’s better January 2023 signings
The 2023 January transfer window saw Chelsea bring in the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Benoit Badiashile, Mudryk and Gusto.
Looking at how their signings have performed and where some of them currently are, with a couple out on loan at the minute, Gusto has definitely been one of the more impactful additions.
He has had to come in for James because of all of the England international’s injuries and has not done a bad job filling in for him.
Only Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher have recorded more assists in the Premier League than Gusto this term, showing that the 20-year-old does bring some attacking threat to the pitch from the full-back position.
