‘The power’: Gary Neville amazed by one moment in Chelsea star’s latest performance

Gary Neville has raved about Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku after his latest performance in the weekend victory at home to Aston Villa.

Chelsea beat Villa 3-0 on Saturday in the Premier League, with their centre-forward scoring a brace.

Lukaku’s opener was an extremely calm finish after he chopped back onto his weaker right foot inside the penalty area before slotting home. In contrast, his second was an emphatic effort from the edge of the box that powered into the roof of the net.

Sky pundit Neville was amazed by the Belgian’s thunderous second goal at the weekend as he generated so much power with very little backlift.

“That shot is brilliant [for the second goal], the power. It’s stuck under his feet and he’s dug it out. He (Lukaku) is doing what we knew he would do. We knew he would score goals,” Neville told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (10:45pm, 13 September).

Romelu Lukaku a goal machine that won’t stop scoring

A look at Lukaku’s three Chelsea appearances since his return this season suggests he’s going to do incredible things at the Bridge this year.

He’s contributed three goals in three matches so far and has scored different types to highlight how far his game has developed.

His clinical touch around the box is evident. Therefore, defences should be scared for when this Chelsea team gets in full flow and starts creating numerous chances for him a game.

It feels like Thomas Tuchel’s side are still feeling their way into the campaign during these early stages, so the best is yet to come from their 28-year-old Belgian number nine.

The way he brings others into play is important. However, this Chelsea side are set up to try get the best out of their frontman, who is going to deliver spectacular goalscoring numbers if he gets the correct service.
