The new Chelsea manager has been getting to work this week in his new role as pre-season gets underway at Cobham.

Enzo Maresca has been beginning to get familiar with his new squad as he prepares for the upcoming tour of the United States that will get them ready for the Premier League campaign.

He has been able to welcome a number of players back who spent the majority of the prior season on the treatment table. Wesley Fofana is one of those who has been pictured involved already.

A video emerged from the very first session that Maresca undertook of him beginning to get some of his principles as a manager across to the players.

As the fitness side of things took a turn towards some more work with the ball yesterday, the boss looked impressed with what he saw, particularly from a few individual players.

Maresca praises Ben Chilwell, Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill in training

In the video posted by the club on their Twitter page, the Italian can be heard praising Ben Chilwell, Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill for some of the work they were putting in.

It looks as if it is going to be a big campaign for a number of players at Stamford Bridge this season, and the vice-captain is one who really needs to bounceback.

His place in the starting side seems to have been taken by Marc Cucurella, who has followed up his strong end to the club season with a really impressive set of showings at Euro 2024 for Spain.

Colwill looks set to play an important role at the heart of defence next season, instead of the left-back role that he seemed to feature in regularly under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It could also be a key campaign for the future at Chelsea of Madueke, with the signing of a new winger now by no means confirmed after they missed out on the addition of Michael Olise.
