Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is set to sign for Atletico Madrid, with a move to the Spanish club imminent.
In fact, Conor Gallagher could join Atletico Madrid today after jetting off to Spain to put pen to paper on his contract.
The 24-year-old was a key player for Chelsea last season after making 50 appearances in all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, with Pochettino no longer at the club and Gallagher now into the final 12 months of his contract, the Englishman has looked destined for an exit all summer.
Plenty of Chelsea supporters have taken to social media to react to his imminent move to Atletico.

Chelsea fans on club’s treatment of Conor Gallagher
It is fair to say that a lot of Chelsea supporters are not happy with how the club’s owners have treated Gallagher, a player from the Blues’ academy.
One Chelsea fan posted on X: “I don’t feel the connection with this club anymore. I’m dead inside with Gallagher being forced out.”
Another Chelsea fan said: “The Chelsea FC management is doing things in an unprofessional manner. This is not the legacy of our club! Conor Gallagher did not want to leave his boyhood club but you forced him to do so because of money! [Todd] Boehly, [Laurence] Stewart and [Paul] Winstanley are big mistakes in this great club!”
One supporter wrote: “Gallagher is being treated unfairly.”
Another said: “They’ll probably spend more than half of the Gallagher money on this meady Celtic player. I hate these owners and this Moneyball strategy.”
And finally, one other Chelsea supporter said: “Absolutely horrible from our owners.”
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, two other Premier League clubs tried to sign Gallagher.
Conor Gallagher leaving Chelsea
Gallagher’s Chelsea career is all but over. It would take some U-turn now for him not to join Atletico and stay at Stamford Bridge.
Clearly, loads of supporters are not happy with the club’s treatment of Gallagher, which is more than understandable. The England international is one of their own after all.
With no contract agreed, though, Chelsea had to agree to sell him, while they already have a replacement in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who joined Enzo Maresca‘s side from Leicester City earlier this summer.
In the end, the whole thing has become a bit of a mess. Going forward, you suspect that Chelsea will not let any player enter the final year of his contract.
That is probably one of a few reasons why Chelsea are handing such lengthy deals to their new signings.
